Shahi Daal Mash Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Black Lentil Skinless (Mash Dal)
  • Water (for soaking) As Required
  • Water (for boiling) As Required
  • ¼ cup Oil 
  • 1 cup Onion Puree 
  • tbsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp  Salt 

For Tarka:

  • 3 tbsp Oil 
  • 5 Red Button Chilies (Dried)
  • ¼ cup Ginger 
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 3 Green Chilies

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl add dal mash and water, soak for 30 minutes.
  • In a pot heat water and bring it to boil. Add soaked dal and boil until 80% done.
  • In another pot heat oil and add onion puree, cook for 4-5 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  •  Add tomatoes and cook until tomatoes get soft.
  • Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chili flakes, salt, coriander powder, and cook until oil separates.
  • Add chicken and cook until chicken is half done. Now add boiled dal and cook until it’s fully tender. Your shahi dal mash is ready.
  • In a pan heat oil and add red button chilies, ginger, green chilies and garam masala powder. Cook for a minute.
  • Pour the prepared tarka over dal mash and garnish with green coriander. Your Shahi Dal mash is ready to serve.
